Day 16 started with a 33-mile trip to Tuskegee so that we could view the George Washington Carver Museum. It was so exciting to see all the artifacts that were actually used by this wonderfully brilliant man. We also got the chance to visit and explore the home of Booker T. Washington. After that we took a ride to see the airfield of the Tuskegee Airman. In the hanger of the airfield, this was made into a museum dedicated to them. To make the day even better, we finally had a chance to meet Mr. Fred Gray, the attorney who changed the civil rights movement.
He was an attorney for Rosa Parks, Martin Luther King, Jr. and many others. He still practices law until this very day, and if I had a civil or human rights case I would want him as my lawyer. We finished off the day with a visit to the Shiloh Rosenwald School and the church that reconstructed it. It was one of the first of the Rosenwald schools to be put on the list to be fixed up to be a historic site. I really felt as though the day was interesting and filled with historic facts that I had never knew about.
